As a Thornlie local and City of Gosnells Councillor, I have for the most part lived in Thornlie since the mid-eighties. I returned to Thornlie in 1994 after serving four years as a police officer in South Hedland. With my wife Catherine, we raised our three children here in City of Gosnells.

It’s been my privilege to serve as a City of Gosnells Councillor for the last four years. I like to think that along with my fellow councillors and the City’s amazing staff, we have achieved a great deal for our community such as the Youth Entertainment Space recently opened in Southern River.

I am very conscious of how we spend ratepayers’ money so I was delighted to initiate and progress a motion recently through the City of Gosnells and South East Metropolitan Zone to reduce election costs by potentially a half a million dollars every two years. Such a saving could be used in other important areas of need in the city and if adopted by the government, could potentially save up to $7 million across the metro area.

My family connection to the City of Gosnells goes back to the turn of the last century when my great-great grandparents, Bruno and Marie Klaebe settled on five acres in King Street Gosnells, where they established a farm and lived for decades. The family home (built circa 1920) still stands today on the corner of King and Crandon streets (at the roundabout).

As a long serving police officer who served in Gosnells, I have a lot of knowledge and experience to give back to our community. For so long, our community has been sold short with too few police to respond or investigate crime and hoon behaviour. Illicit drug consumption is through the roof, crime rates are spiralling, and police attrition is not being addressed by state government.

I live here, I know this area, I strive to be your local voice in local government.

Please look out for me over the next couple of months and say g’day, chances are we have a lot in common.
