Private swimming pools can pose a significant risk of drowning, particularly for young children. The Royal Life Saving Society’s Keep Watch program promotes four key drowning prevention actions to maximise child safety:
- Supervise
- Restrict Access
- Water Awareness
- Resuscitate
State legislation also requires private swimming pools and spas to be enclosed with a security barrier to restrict access. The City is required to inspect the barrier every four years to ensure compliance.
