Owners and Occupiers
A person who is enrolled to vote in a State or Federal election outside of the City of Gosnells (City) but owns or occupies rateable property within the City may claim eligibility to be placed on the Owners and Occupiers Roll and vote in local government elections.
Owner or Co-owner
If you own rateable property in the City but are not enrolled to vote at that property, you may be eligible to apply to be placed on the roll.
To apply to enrol as an owner or co-owner, complete Form 2A - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Owner or Co-owner.
If the property is owned by three or more people, complete Form 2C - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination By Group Of Owners/Occupiers.
Occupier or Co-occupier
To apply to enrol as an occupier, you must complete Form 2B – Enrolment Eligibility Claim – Occupier or Co-occupier.
If the property is occupied by three or more people, you must also complete Form 2C - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination By Group Of Owners/Occupiers.
You must provide a copy of your lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument and any additional supporting evidence to support your claim at the time of enrolment.Â
To be eligible to vote you must provide proof that:
- you have a right of occupation over rateable property (or part of) under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument;
- you have continuously occupied the rateable property under a lease or other legal instrument for at least 12 months prior to your claim and will occupy the property for at least the next three months;
- you have quiet enjoyment (exclusive occupation) of the occupied property;
- you are able to secure your occupied property from intruders;
- you genuinely operate or intend to operate your business from that property;
- you lease at least 10m2 of property (subject to a series of exclusions);
- you pay the minimum amount of rent for the property ($5,000 for 100m2 or more or $50 per m2 if less than 100m2 per annum); and
- are enrolled to vote in a State or Federal election outside of the City.
Body Corporate Owner
If a body corporate owns property in the City, it may be eligible to nominate two people, who are not already enrolled to vote within the district, to be placed on the roll.
To nominate electors on behalf of a body corporate, complete the below forms:
Form 2A - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Owner or Co-owner; and
Form 2D - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Body Corporate.
If the property is owned by three or more parties, Form 2C - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Group of Owners/Occupiers must also be completed.
Body Corporate Occupier
If a body corporate occupies property in the City, it may be eligible to nominate two people, who are not already enrolled to vote within the district, to be placed on the roll.
To nominate electors on behalf of a body corporate occupier, complete the below forms:
Form 2B – Enrolment Eligibility Claim – Occupier or Co-occupier; and
Form 2D - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Body Corporate.
