The City has budgeted for over 200 engineering projects under the City's annual Capital Works Program and maintenance programs for 2023/2024.
The delivery of infrastructure has $29.9 million set aside for the development of community parks, facilities and providing a safe road network to increase City amenity and to provide for future City growth.

The following projects are highlighted for prioritisation, with funding sourced from a combination of grants and municipal funds.
Sutherlands Park
Sports fans will be excited to hear the City is planning for the future of one of our largest sports reserves, Sutherlands Park. In the coming year the City will start construction on the new Sutherlands Park Youth Entertainment Space (Y.E.S), and the Sutherlands Park Centre. Replacing the Huntingdale Community Centre, the new Sutherlands Park Centre will house community events and change rooms for sports reserve users.
Following the endorsement of the Sutherlands Park Master Plan the City will now make the largest financial investment in sport and recreation in its history. The 30-hectare site is already home to a synthetic hockey ground, indoor cricket training facility, seven sports reserves, five pavilions, a clubhouse, a community centre, two playgrounds and a Bush Forever environment site.
Southern River Business Park
Southern River Business Park is the largest commercial development project undertaken by the City of Gosnells to date. The four-stage, 51-lot project will generate new business and employment opportunities, boost the local economy and address demand for quality commercial and light industrial property in the City’s southern corridor. Net profits from the sale of lots will be reinvested into future projects in the City of Gosnells. All lots are now under offer, with civil construction work underway.Â
Gosnells Oval
The final stage of the Gosnells Oval redevelopment is the installation of a new all-abilities playground. The City has recently completed a remediation of the R.S. Simpson Grandstand and improvement works to the oval playing surface. When the grandstand was built in 1959 for £6,000, it was described in The West Australian as the most modern in the outer metropolitan area. The refurbishment of the grandstand, playing surface and the installation of the all abilities playground are part of the Gosnells Oval Masterplan.Â
Waste to Energy
Eight local governments, including the City of Gosnells, have agreed to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of waste each year to a new waste-to-energy plant in Kwinana.
The plant will receive your household waste that would otherwise have been sent to landfill.
When commissioned next year, the plant operated by Avertas Energy will provide a practical solution to two big community challenges - disposing of significant quantities of household rubbish, and providing additional secure and uninterrupted renewable energy.
Avertas Energy will use world-class technologies to process 400,000 tonnes per year of household waste, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and delivering 36MW of baseload electricity to the grid. These outcomes are the equivalent of taking 85,000 cars off Perth’s roads and powering 50,000 Perth households every year.
Mary Carroll Park
The final upgrades at Mary Carroll Park will be completed this year. The Eudoria Street Hub will be completed with the installation of a new all ages, all abilities playground. The new toilet block, including a Changing Places changeroom, and pedestrian bridges are now open. The new bridges provide a circular walkway around the protected bird sanctuary within walking distance of the Gosnells town centre.

Langford Indoor Sports Centre
A new indoor netball and sports facility will be constructed at Langford Sporting Complex, home of the Southern Districts Netball Association. The first indoor netball facility in the City will include four indoor courts – three of which will be used as multi-sport courts -- plus change rooms, club rooms and grandstand spectator seating.
Garden Street linkÂ
Subject to final environmental approvals, future construction of the first stage of the Garden Street extension will take Garden Street from Warton Road to Holmes Street and include the realignment of Holmes Street. This major construction project will reduce congestion in Southern River and Huntingdale.
