The City is required to maintain records of all building approvals issued. This includes building licences and permits, plans and supporting documentation. A property owner may request copies of these documents from the City.
Make a Plan Search Request Online or in person at the Civic Centre.
A request must include the following:
- Payment of the plan search fee (online applicants will be contacted via email for payment before the request will be processed);
- Applicant’s identification (e.g. recent rates notice or utility bill), to confirm they are the current property owner. Please do not attach photo identification;
- If the applicant is not the property owner, written authorisation from the owner or a copy of the contract of sale to purchase the land (Offer and Acceptance);
- If the property is owned by a company or trust, evidence must be attached confirming your legal interest in that entity (eg business registration details). The applicant's identification must match the name on the business registration details;
- If the property is held in the form of a Strata Title and the Body Corporate or Managing Agent wants to request the plans to all units, the signature of the Secretary of the Body Corporate or Managing Agent will be required. If this is not available, the signatures of all owners involved in the Strata Subdivision will be required.
Once all items have been received, a comprehensive search will be undertaken. The City aims to undertake the search within 10 business days. Additional time may be required, particularly as some hardcopy records may be stored off-site. Please understand that due to the age of some properties, some documents may be unavailable. If the plans for an approval can not be located we will only be able to supply a letter confirming the approved structures.
Plans will be provided electronically. If a hard copy is required, please note that additional printing fees may apply.
Please note the City does not generally hold the internal plumbing diagrams. You may be able to obtain this from the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety.
If you require Planning and Development Approval documentation please contact our Planning Department at padmin@gosnells.wa.gov.au or on 9397 3000 to discuss.
