Community Insurance Grants are intended to support not-for-profit Resident and Ratepayer Groups with the cost of Public Liability and volunteer Personal Accident Insurance so they can deliver activities and initiatives in their local area. The City will provide up to $1000 per group per financial year for eligible insurance costs upon a successful application. 

Resident and Ratepayer Group definition

  • A group made up of local residents who represent the interests of everyone living in a particular area.
  • Must be independent with an incorporated constitution that details the governance and objectives of the group
  • Must have clear consultation and representation structures to ensure the views of everyone living in their particular area are represented\
  • Must be in good standing with the local community, and willing to work collaboratively and in good faith with the City to improve the local area that they represent 

Documents you will need to apply:

  • A copy of your Incorporation Certificate
  • A copy of your Constitution 
  • A copy of the minutes from your last Annual General Meeting 
  • A copy of your Bank Statement including current balance, BSB, and Account number
  • Two quotes for each type of Insurance you are requesting funding for
  • A calendar of events and programs that your group will be implementing over the next 12 months

  • All of the documents listed above
  • A brief description of your organisation, how many members you have, your current board members
  • A brief description of your calendar of events and programs you intend to implement over the next 12 months.

The City will review your application and either decline it and provide feedback, request further information, or approve your application and send you a Funding Agreement for you to sign and return.

Ineligible groups:

  • Sports Clubs
  • Service Providers
  • For profit organisations
  • Community Groups
  • Political Parties
  • Religious Bodies
  • Groups in bad standing with their local community
  • Groups that have an outstanding debt/are in legal conflict to the City
  • Groups with board members that have an outstanding debt/in legal conflict to the City
  • Groups that act/have board members that act in bad faith towards the City
  • Groups where the lead applicant is an employee or elected member of the City
