Our collections offer something of interest for adults and seniors, whether it be a non-fiction title to help you learn something new, or a novel to escape into. If you're not a reader, there are also DVDs, puzzles, games, audiobooks, and a whole range of streaming media and e-resources available.

Language and literacy learning

If you (or someone you know) are learning to read, learning English, or learning another language, there are a range of resources available at the libraries. There are also titles suitable for those with dyslexia. Have a look at the language and literacy learning page, and don't forget to check out the e-resources page as there are online resources that may also be of use to you.

Eyesight not what it used to be?

You may be interested to know there is a large collection of titles in large print at each library, or if you prefer to listen, audiobooks may better suit your needs. There is a large collection of audiobooks on disc at the libraries, as well as a huge range of downloadable audiobooks available free through our e-resource collection. E-books can be enlarged substantially on a screen, and may also be worth considering.

If you need assistance to start using e-resources please feel welcome to ask a staff member at one of the libraries, or drop in to one of our free Tech Help sessions.

Searching for specific items

The library catalogue can be searched online to locate specific items, or just to browse. There are tips available to help you search more effectively, including setting up saved lists so you will be alerted when new titles arrive that you may be interested in. You can request any of the items you find (except reference items). If we don’t have the item you’re looking for we can try to source a copy through the Request and Information Service. There is no charge for this service but conditions are applicable. You can also suggest an item be considered for purchase.
