Council has adopted the City of Gosnells Budget for 2025/26, with a strong focus on sustainability initiatives designed to deliver long-term financial and environmental benefits for the community.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said Councillors approved the Budget on Tuesday 1 July, following months of detailed discussions.
“This Budget sets a clear course toward a greener, more sustainable future that will deliver lasting financial benefits for our community,” she said.
“With cost-of-living pressures continuing to affect residents, businesses and the City itself, this year’s Budget has been carefully designed to keep costs low, while maintaining the essential services and facilities our community relies on.”
A moderate rate increase of 3.9 per cent will be applied.
“Our ratepayers have benefited from many consecutive years of lower-than-average rate increases,” Mayor Lynes said.
Highlights from this year’s budget include:
- The establishment of a new nursery to grow trees, shrubs and plants suited to local streetscapes, parks and nature reserves – $400,000
- An upgrade of Dunnell Park in Maddington, including the development of a living stream – $767,428 (includes $200,000 State Government funding)
- Completion of the Langford Indoor Sports Centre – $8.76 million in 2025/26 (total project cost of $14.1 million over two years including $5 million Australian Government funding and $1.5 million State Government funding)
- Irrigation upgrade at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale to improve water and energy efficiency – $1.5 million (includes $652,000 Australian Government funding)
- Duplicating Garden Street from Warton Road to Harpenden Street and extending Garden Street from Harpenden Street to Holmes Street, Huntingdale – $1.78 million in 2025/26 (total project cost of $11.4 million over five years, including $7.6 million from the State Government)
- Completion of a $1.54 million extension of the Gosnells Bowling Club (includes $500,000 Australian Government funding)
