City of Gosnells Deputy Mayor resigns

Deputy Mayor Adam Hort has resigned from the City of Gosnells Council, effective Wednesday 26 June.

Cr Hort was originally elected to Council in October 2019 and became Deputy Mayor in October 2021. He was re-elected to Council in October 2023, with Councillors voting to have him continue in the role of Deputy Mayor.

Cr Hort cited family reasons for his decision to resign and said he and his family would be moving away from the City, making him ineligible to continue as a Councillor.

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure to represent the ratepayers and residents of the City of Gosnells for the past five years," Cr Hort said.

“I am incredibly proud of all that we have been able to achieve as a Council in that time, and I will miss working to ensure that decisions made by Council reflect the needs of the local community.

“I have great faith in the future of the City under the leadership of Mayor Lynes and the Councillors.”

Mayor Terresa Lynes thanked Cr Hort for his service to the City and its residents and ratepayers.

“Cr Hort has brought a wealth of experience and expertise to his roles as Councillor and Deputy Mayor, and the needs of the community have always been first and foremost in his decision-making process,” she said.

“On behalf of the Council, Executive and City staff, I thank him for his contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
