The City of Gosnells awarded 47 Community Grants totalling almost $160,000 in the last financial year, with several projects focused on easing cost of living pressures in the community.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the Community Grants program provides vital support to local organisations, businesses and individuals working to create a positive impact in the community.

“We’ve seen a growing number of applications focused on addressing cost of living challenges faced by vulnerable residents,” she said.

“These initiatives have included food parcels, hot meals, free pet health checks, Christmas hampers and events aimed at fostering social inclusion and connection.

“Through these Community Grants, the City of Gosnells is helping improve the quality of life for local residents while building a more resilient and connected community.”

Mayor Lynes praised the work of Amurt Ltd Australia (WA), whose Community Care Parcel Project distributes food parcels to local families experiencing hardship and serves more than 100 hot meals each month at pop-up centres – helping to reduce food insecurity, ease financial stress and enhance community engagement.

“The generosity and dedication of individuals and organisations supporting others in these challenging times is truly something to applauded,” Mayor Lynes said.

Applications for this year’s Level 1 and Level 2 Community Grants will open on Monday 1 September.

An information session on Level 2 Community Grants will be held on Thursday 28 August from 5.30pm – 7.30pm. Register your attendance by emailing community@gosnells.wa.gov.au before Monday 25 August with your name, organisation and any dietary requirements.

In addition to Community Grants, the City’s Community Grants Program currently includes Small Business Shopfront Improvement Grants, Education Scholarships and Competition Sponsorships.
