Guided by producers with experience in music, sound design, and engineering, Ignite's  music production courses are immersive and empower young musicians to create their own original tracks using industry-standard software. The course also offers opportunities to connect with other young producers in a supportive and collaborative community. 

 

Beginner Music Production Course

The Ignite's Music Production Course (Beginner) introduces participants to the use of Ableton Live music production software and teaches them foundational techniques. Topics covered include (but are not limited to):

    🎶  Introduction to Ableton Live 12 :  gain an understanding of how this industry-leading music production software - including its interface, tools, and workflow - to create, produce, and perform music in real time. 

    🎶  Audio editing, recording, MIDI, Drum Rack, effects, and automation : learn how to record and edit audio, sequence MIDI, build beats, apply effects, and use automation. 

    🎶  Synthesis, sound design, sampling, and music theory basis : explore synthesis and sound design, creating using samples, and applying basic music theory. 

    🎶  Arrangement and composition : arrange and compose musical tracks to construct engaging songs from start to finish, like the pros do! 

 

Program specifics and requirements

  • Participants are encouraged to BYO laptops, however computers are available if necessary. 
  • Participants aged 14 - 25 years are eligible to register for this program. Those who do not meet this registration requirement will have their enrolment cancelled. 
  • Beginners Music Production Course is a weekly program that commences in week (2) of the school term and occurs on Thursdays. 
  • All Youth and Families programs do not operate on Western Australian public holidays, as listed on the Government of Western Australia's website.

  1. Review the City of Gosnells' Community Engagement Programs Cancellation Policy document before proceeding to registration. 
  2. Register for the program by purchasing a ticketing to claim a place in the program via the TryBooking event (hyperlinked below).
