About the Artist: Patrick Hyde

"I am a 40 year old painter, born in Napier, New Zealand and living in Perth, Western Australia for 35 years. I have always been fascinated with art. From an early age I would visit the Art Gallery of Western Australia and be inspired by our local artists and at home I would sometimes watch my father create paintings. Originally, I started out having a passion for realistic drawing and I would copy photos and graphics with gusto. It was not until I discovered the paintings of Van Gogh and other masters that I saw just what could be expressed through painting. I am continuously inspired by the history of painting in all its forms." - Patrick Hyde.
