Thornlie residents came together last Friday 22 January to improve community safety with a bit of fun.

The City of Gosnells partnered with WA Police Force, Gosnells District Neighbourhood Watch, Southern River Scout Group, Armadale Police Rangers and the Gosnells Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade to host the latest Your Neighbourhood event at Walter Padbury Park.

The free, family-friendly community event featured a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle and other activities – but the main focus was sharing crime prevention and community safety information, and meeting City staff and local Police.

Mayor David Goode said the event was part of a series of Your Neighbourhood events that target specific neighbourhoods in the City.

“Your Neighbourhood events are a great way to encourage local residents to get to know their neighbours and improve community safety in their local area,” he said.

“We can all do our bit to reduce crime and make our neighbourhood feel safe and more welcoming. These events are a really enjoyable way to share important information and encourage community members to work together.”

Attendees at the Your Neighbourhood event were in the running to win a ‘doorbell prize’ and the lucky winner was Mark Adams, of Thornlie.

Two more Your Neighbourhood events planned for the next few months will be advertised in specific neighbourhoods. Keep your eye on your letterbox for details.
