The City of Gosnells 3D Printing Service is now open for submissions!
With 3D Printing technology, there's almost no limit to what you can design and create! Whether it's tabletop miniatures for your next Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or the latest cool gadget for your office desk, we've got you covered!
Library Services has a FlashForge Guider IIS 3D Printer, located within Amherst Village Library. Submit your chosen design to us, and we'll print it for you! Please note that we do not provide a design service.
How do I submit my design for printing?
Q: Who can submit designs to the 3D Printing Service?
A: You must be 18 years of age or older and a full City of Gosnells library member to submit printing jobs.
Q: How do I find/create a design?
A: You can download pre-designed 3D models from websites like Thingiverse.com. If you want to create your own design, you can do so using programs like Tinkercad, Sketchup, Blender, or OpenSCAD.
Q: What can you print for me?
A: Almost anything, as long as it's appropriate, will fit within the 3D Printer's build area ((280mm wide, 250mm deep, and 300mm high), and can be printed within 7 hours. Please note: We can only print in white PLA filament.
Designs that are too big for the 3D Printer or will take too long will be rejected.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Our printing charges are based on total print time. The first hour costs $10, with each additional hour (or part thereof) costing $5. Once your design is submitted, Library staff will generate a quote for you to agree to and pay before starting the printing process.
Q: How long will it take to get my design?
A: That depends. Our service operates on a "First come, first served" basis and printing runs are completed only on Wednesdays while the CoGLAB is closed to the public, to enable the process to take place safely. Wait times will also vary depending on the size of our waitlist. Library staff will contact you when your design is printed and ready for pick-up from Amherst Village Library.
