Celebrate NAIDOC Week in the City of Gosnells with a series of community events honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture and creativity.
Events include the City’s annual NAIDOC Week Art Exhibition, a Mereny Damper workshop for all ages, an Art and Yarning workshop and the Langford Aboriginal Association’s Annual Community Lunch.
Children are invited to take part in the Booyi Cultural Program while the Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company will present Djinda Kaatijin.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the celebrations would begin with the City’s annual Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday 6 July.
“NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to come together to celebrate and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements,” she said
“This year is especially significant as it marks the 50th Anniversary of NAIDOC Week and recognises the strength and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.”
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is 50 Years of Deadly.
