Community members are invited to make a ‘tree-mendous’ difference to the local environment, by taking part in a National Tree Day planting event at the City of Gosnells.

The event will take place from 9am to 12pm on Sunday 27 July, at Tom Bateman Reserve, Wilfred Road, Thornlie.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City’s community planting days were free, fun, family-friendly events that made a considerable difference to local parks and reserves.

“This year we have 8,000 native seedlings to plant, which will really make an impact on the reserve, so we want as many people to attend as possible,” she said.

“This National Tree Day will help to improve habitat for local wildlife while making the reserve more beautiful and enjoyable for everyone.”

Participants should come dressed for the weather, including appropriate footwear, and be prepared to get their hands dirty. Bring trowels, gloves and a water bottle.

A sausage sizzle for volunteers will be held after planting.
