The City of Gosnells is inviting residents who have lived in the area for 50 years or more to a special Pioneers’ Morning tea this November.
If you or someone you know meets this milestone and would be interested in attending, the City is seeking contact details to extend a formal invitation.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the transformation of the area over the past five decades has been significant.
“Fifty years ago, the City of Gosnells was still a Town,” she said.
“Thornlie Library had just opened, the outdoor pool in Thornlie was still in use, Gosnells Railway Station was located south of Dorothy Street, Maddington Central shopping centre had not been built and much of the area was still rural and dotted with orchards.
“The City has always been a great place to live and it’s no surprise so many people have called it home for so long.
“This morning tea will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our shared history, reflect on the changes and appreciate what has remained special about living here”.
