The City of Gosnells is calling for local residents to get to know their neighbours by hosting a Street Meet and Greet event to coincide with Neighbour Day on Sunday 26 March.

Residents can apply for up to $250 to host an event for their street – whether in their front yard or at a local park – to cover catering and activity costs.

Event hosts will also receive a $50 voucher provided by Gosnells District Neighbourhood Watch as a thank you gift for organising the event. The first five residents to register their Street Meet and Greet to coincide with Neighbour Day will also receive a $50 Bunnings voucher as an additional incentive.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City also provided a how-to guide and invitations to help make the events successful.

“Getting to know your neighbours is one of the best ways to improve community safety, and hosting a Street Meet and Greet is a fun and effective way for local people to do this,” she said.

“These events can also help residents feel better connected in their community. You never know who you might meet on your street, so go ahead, take the lead and organise an event with your neighbours.”

Residents can apply to host a Street Meet and Greet at any time of year, however there is limited funding, so get in quick. A minimum of five neighbouring households must be invited to be eligible for funding.
