A planned upgrade to the roundabout at Nicholson Road, Garden Street and Yale Road in Thornlie will provide an opportunity for anyone interested in acquiring very large, established palm trees.

As part of the intersection upgrade – which includes the construction of a new flyover bridge – four mature palm trees located in the centre of the roundabout will need to be removed or relocated.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City was accepting expressions of interest from anyone interested in relocating the trees.

“These are substantial palm trees that have been a feature of this intersection for many years,” she said.

“However, due to their size, they need to be removed to enable the intersection upgrade. Our preference is not to just see them become garden mulch.

“Once the upgrade is complete, the roundabout will be replaced with a landscaped, waterwise, native garden that reflects the City’s commitment to its natural environment.”

Anyone interested in acquiring the trees must cover all relocation costs, which may well be significant. To express your interest, please contact the City at info@gosnells.wa.gov.au.
