Sustainability initiative Switch Your Thinking is seeking providers of sustainability products and services across the metropolitan area to join two programs that promote products to help people and businesses live and operate more sustainably.
The Rewards for Residents and Rewards for Business programs offer exclusive discounts on a wide range of sustainable living products and services, making it easier and more affordable for people and businesses to reduce their carbon emissions and environmental impact.
City of Armadale Mayor and South East Regional Energy Group Chair Ruth Butterfield said she was keen to see more businesses affiliated with the programs.
“The Rewards for Residents and Rewards for Businesses programs offer a fantastic advertising opportunity for any business that provides sustainability products,” she said.
“These programs span 16 local government areas, providing excellent reach directly to community members and businesses who are actively looking to invest in ways to reduce their environmental impact.”
City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said there was increasing demand from local residents and the business community for access to affordable products and services that effectively reduce carbon emissions.
“Living and doing business more sustainably makes both environmental and economic sense, and these programs make it easier for people and businesses to support local businesses and access information,” she said.
“The City of Gosnells has found investing in sustainable solutions extremely worthwhile and we want to encourage others to do the same.”
Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Rob Coales said the range of available sustainable living products and services was growing rapidly as more people and businesses realised the benefits.
“There are more and more interesting and viable products and services coming on the market for people to reduce their environmental impact at home or work, reduce cost of living or operational costs, or simply make their home or business more comfortable to spend time in,” he said.
“Rewards for Business and Rewards for Residents are fantastic programs that we are keen to see grow right across the Switch Your Thinking partner councils, to put purchasers and suppliers in direct contact with each other.”
Examples of products Switch Your Thinking hopes to include in Rewards for Residents and Rewards for Businesses include:
• Wall and roof insulation (valued at R5 or above)
• Window tinting and double glazing
• Interior and exterior thermal insulating or UV resistant window coverings, such as UV curtains, roller shades, shade cloth, external blinds and more.
• LED lighting
• Residential and commercial energy and/or water auditing
• Solar panels and battery systems
• Solar and heat pump hot water systems
• Electric bikes
• Solar powered whirlybirds and skylights
• Rainwater tanks
• Pool covers
• Native waterwise plants
• Waterwise household fittings
• Waterwise garden products
• EV charging units
Switch Your Thinking is an initiative of the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and has 13 Partner Councils across greater Perth. Partner Councils include the cities of Canning, Kalamunda, Melville, Perth, South Perth, Belmont, Stirling, Swan and Vincent, the towns of Bassendean, Cambridge and Victoria Park and the Shire of Mundaring.
