The National Library of Australia is the country's largest reference library, with over 500 million Australian and online resources: books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more. The Library also provides access to thousands of ebooks and digitised materials, many of which are available free online; others will require a User ID (available free for Australian residents from the National Library’s website).
The National Library’s role is to ensure that documentary resources of national significance relating to Australia and the Australian people, as well as significant non-Australian library materials, are collected, preserved and made accessible either through the library itself or through collaborative arrangements with other libraries and information providers. National Library showcases this through their key product, Trove.
Trove
Trove helps you find and use resources relating to Australia. It's more than a search engine. Trove brings together content from libraries, museums, archives, repositories and other research and collecting organisations big and small. It is a collaboration between the National Library, Australia's State and Territory libraries and hundreds of cultural and research institutions around Australia, working together to create a legacy of Australia’s knowledge for now and into the future.Â
