Almost 200 diverse artworks will be showcased at this year’s City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the exhibition features an impressive range of works, including striking natural landscapes, native wildlife, vibrant abstracts, mixed media and sculpture.

“This vibrant and dynamic exhibition is full of pieces to surprise, inspire and delight,” Mayor Lynes said.

“I’m confident visitors will enjoy the artwork on offer and appreciate the tremendous artistic talent we have in our community and beyond.”

Mayor Lynes said art has a unique ability to bring people together and offer fresh creative perspectives.

“The exhibition of 194 pieces provides a valuable platform for local artists to showcase their work while giving visitors the opportunity to purchase a piece for their home, workplace or as a gift,” she said.

Both established and emerging artists will compete across 11 categories for a total prize pool of $10,000, including the $5,000 Overall Acquisitive Award. Visitors can also vote for the People's Choice Award.

Last year’s Overall Acquisitive Award was won by Ariel Katzir, for I Do See You.

This year’s exhibition will run from Saturday 16 May to Sunday 24 May at Lyal Richardson Hall, The Agonis building, in Gosnells. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10am – 4pm and weekends from 9am – 1pm.

Lyal Richardson Hall will also host a free Meet the Artist networking event from 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday 20 May and free Disability in the Arts Disadvantage in the Arts Australia (DADAA) Access ‘Tactile Touch’ tours on Friday 22 May from 10.15am – 11.15am and 11.30am – 12.30pm.
