Now is the time to recognise people who have worked tirelessly to build a better community in the City of Gosnells.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said nominations were now open for the City of Gosnells Community Citizen of the Year Award.

“I encourage people to think about nominating someone who has made a difference, such as our wonderful volunteers and charity workers,” Mayor Lynes said.

“Nominating someone is the best way to recognise their efforts and to celebrate their achievements.”

Nominations close on Friday 31 October, and the awards will be presented on Australia Day, Monday 26 January 2026.

There are four Community Citizen of the Year Award categories:
• Community Citizen of the Year – individuals over 16 years old.
• Young Community Citizen of the Year – for people aged between 16 and 30 years old.
• Senior Community Citizen of the Year – for people aged over 65.
• Active Citizenship Award – for a group or community event.

The awards recognise people who have made a significant contribution to the local community.

Past recipients of the award have demonstrated leadership on a community issue or been a role model for the community.
Award winners have also introduced a significant initiative that brought about positive change in the community.

The City of Gosnells Community Citizen of the Year Awards are held in conjunction with Auspire – the Australia Day Council WA.
