Three re-elected Councillors and three newly elected Councillors were officially sworn in at the City of Gosnells last night, ready to serve the community for the next four years.
Following the ceremony, Councillor Serena Williamson was re-elected by fellow Councillors to serve as Deputy Mayor for a two-year term, alongside Mayor Terresa Lynes, who has two years remaining on her current term.
Councillors Peter Abetz, Serena Williamson and Glenn Dewhurst were returned by voters, while newcomers Dillon Mason, Malik Sajjad and Leah Szczyglak were elected to Council. All six will serve four-year terms ending in October 2029.
They join Mayor Lynes and sitting Councillors Aaron Adams, Kylie Dalton, Saiful Islam, Diane Lloyd, Balli Singh and Emma Zhang, whose terms continue until October 2027.
Mayor Lynes thanked the community for their participation in this year’s election.
“Being a Councillor can be both challenging and rewarding, so congratulations to those who put their hands up to serve their community and were elected or re-elected,” she said.
“City of Gosnells Council members take pride in working effectively together and we look forward to welcoming our new colleagues as we continue striving to make the City of Gosnells a great place.
“To our community, I encourage you to stay engaged and informed about what is happening at Council – whether that’s through our website, social media, live-streamed Council meetings or by speaking with the Councillors or myself.
“I would also like to acknowledge Councillors Caren Baayens, David Goode and Kevin McDonald, who have completed their terms. Thank you for your years of service, commitment and dedication to our community.
