Residents in the City of Gosnells are encouraged to make the City sparkle this Christmas, by decorating and lighting their houses as part of the Safe City Christmas Lights Competition.
The competition opens on Monday 24 November.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said viewing the Christmas lights had become a cherished tradition for many families.
“Christmas lights are a wonderful way to share the Christmas spirit with the community,” she said.
“It’s also a great way to improve community safety by getting to know your neighbours, encouraging community members to explore their neighbourhood and increasing the number of eyes on the streets during the festive season.”
There will be a range of prizes to compete for:
• Best Decorated Street (five houses or more)
• Best Private Residence, plus three runners-up
• Best First Time Entry
• Two random draw prizes
Judges will visit entrants’ homes on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 December. Winners will be announced at the City’s annual Christmas celebration, Jingle All the Way, on Saturday 13 December.
Mayor Lynes encouraged people viewing Christmas light displays to take care on the roads and be considerate of neighbours by keeping driveways and footpaths clear and ensuring traffic can move safely around parked cars.
