The City of Gosnells is giving away up to 10,000 free native plants to residents in a bid to encourage locals to green up their gardens, save water and improve biodiversity.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said residents can collect up to 10 free native plants on Sunday 4 May from 9am to 1pm at the City of Gosnells Museum at Wilkinson Homestead.
“This is a great opportunity to spruce up your garden, help create thriving habitats for local wildlife and improve biodiversity in our community,” Mayor Lynes said.
“There will also be activities to keep the kids entertained, and some great gardening tips to help you get started with your new plants.”
The project is partly funded through the Water Corporation’s Greening Initiative in partnership with the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group.
Registrations are essential prior to collection, with the giveaway only open to residents who live in the City.
Photo ID, along with a recent rate notice or bill to show proof of address, must be shown on the day of plant collection.
Residents are also encouraged to bring a box or container to carry their plants home.
Registrations open on Tuesday 22 April. For more information about the plant species available, click here.
