Residents in the City of Gosnells can receive a rebate of up to $200 towards hosting their own street party with neighbours as part of the Street Meet and Greet initiative.
The community-led project encourages residents to create local connections with their neighbours by hosting an event in their neighbourhood.
The Street Meet and Greet program encourages people to make new friends and get to know the people who are living around them.
“In today’s busy world, it can be hard to connect with others in your local community,” Mayor Terresa Lynes said.
“Knowing who your neighbours are and who lives on your street can make a big difference to help people feel safe and part of a close-knit community.
“The Street Meet and Greet initiative provides a great opportunity for neighbours to get to know one another in their own street.”
Funding is available year-round, with the City providing the party host with a rebate of up to $200 towards their event.
The host will also receive a $50 voucher from the Gosnells District Neighbourhood Watch.
Residents can choose to host their gathering or event at a local park, or in the front yard of their home.
