More than 40,000 people enjoyed good food, multicultural performances, roving entertainment, fireworks and fun at the popular City of Gosnells Fusion Food and Culture Festival.

Held over two big nights on Friday 8 November and Saturday 9 November, this year’s Fusion Festival drew another huge crowd from across the City and further afield.

“It was fantastic to see people from right across the City and beyond come together to celebrate cultural diversity at our biggest annual community event,” Mayor Terresa Lynes said.

“We were blown away by the interest and attendance at Fusion again this year, which is a testament to how much the local community values these kinds of inclusive, family-friendly events in the City.

“We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, Lotterywest, Great Beginnings and Maddington Central shopping centre, who make it possible for us to run these sorts of events for local people and the wider community.”

Among the highlights was the 5m tall archangel-style puppet, The Messenger, which made its Western Australian debut at Fusion and mesmerised revellers as it spread illuminated messages of love, compassion and unity.

Crowds were entertained by a range of international music and dance acts across two stages, including headliners Australian Idol contestant Drea and local Indie pop rockers Dear Sunday, while roving performers added to the lively vibe.

Festival-goers feasted on delicious international fare from more than 40 food trucks, while carnival rides and free children’s and youth entertainment were a big hit with families.

Also popular was this year’s expanded Global Village area and Great Beginnings Viva Stage, where community groups from across the City of Gosnells provided engaging entertainment, activities and information about their programs and services.

Fusion Festival provides a taste of what’s to come in the City’s bustling summer events season, which is now in full swing.
