Clear your calendar – the City of Gosnells has announced a fantastic lineup of community events that will have you singing, dancing and feeling festive through the warmer months.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the array of events for all ages encouraged community members to come together and explore the City’s parks and gardens.
“The City’s community events are always very popular – they’re free, family-friendly and always have a great atmosphere,” she said.
“These events are highly valuable to our community, because they bring people together, foster a sense of community pride and offer residents a chance to get the most out of living in our great City.”
The event season will kick off in a big way, with the City’s nationally award-winning Fusion Food and Culture Festival on Friday 7 November and Saturday 8 November.
“Fusion attracted 40,000 people across two nights last year and won a National Award for Local Government, so this celebration of cultural diversity is definitely a must-see event this year,” Mayor Lynes said.
“Our next biggest event, Jingle All the Way on Saturday 13 December will sprinkle joy and Christmas magic along a trail from Centennial Pioneer Park to the Civic Centre Gardens.”
Outdoor movies will bring local parks to life this events season, with Maddington Movie Magic planned for Friday 28 November and four Sunset Cinemas planned in Huntingdale, Kenwick, Canning Vale and Thornlie in February.
The Australia Day Big Breakfast will also return, along with the popular Hoedown at Harmony event in March.
Treat your ears with three concerts – Retro Rewind will feature Abba and Beatles tribute acts in February, and Rock Revival will feature INXS and Guns ‘n’ Roses tribute acts in March, followed by the return of Junior Jam, which will bring Bluey and Bingo to Gosnells.
Mayor Lynes said the welcome support of event sponsors would keep costs down for ratepayers, while ensuring the high-quality events catered to as many community members as possible.
Fusion Food and Culture Festival is sponsored by Lotterywest and Maddington Central.
Sunset Cinemas are sponsored by Perth Airport and Lotterywest. Hoedown at Harmony, Retro Rewind, Rock Revival and Junior Jam are sponsored by Lotterywest.
Event details will be announced via the City’s website and social media channels as they approach.
