The people have spoken – and they love the Jellyfish.
Ameidhi Cooroopdass has taken out the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition Award People’s Choice Award for Celestial Drift, a mixed media artwork featuring three-dimensional elements.
Ameidhi received the most public votes by a clear margin and collected a $500 prize for her artwork which explores themes of strength, intuition and connection.
Celestial Drift explores the meeting point between the ocean and the stars.
The jellyfish symbolises adaptability and inner strength, drifting through darkness guided by unseen currents.
Mayor Terresa Lynes congratulated Ameidhi on her award and the sale of her artwork.
“We are fortunate to have such a deep pool of artistic talent in our community and beyond as demonstrated in the quality and diversity of works showcased in this exhibition,” Mayor Lynes said.
The Community Art Exhibition and Awards continue to provide a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their work while celebrating creativity and culture in the heart of the community.
Jane Meleisea claimed the exhibition’s top honour, winning the $5,000 Overall Acquisitive Award for her acrylic artwork Centre Stage.
