Get your hands dirty and help create a cleaner and greener environment by joining the Give Our Bushland a Boost event.
From 9am to 12pm on Sunday 21 June, community members are invited to head to Richard Rushton Community Centre in Gosnells to help plant 5,000 native plants.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the free annual event was a great opportunity for residents to connect with local bushland areas while making a positive contribution to the environment.
“The trees, shrubs, rushes and other native plants planted during Give Our Bushland a Boost will provide long-term benefits for our community by improving biodiversity and air quality, creating habitat for native wildlife and enhancing the liveability of our neighbourhoods,” she said.
“Well-maintained green spaces help communities thrive.”
Participants should bring gloves, a water bottle and wear gumboots or other sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather.
A sausage sizzle will be provided for volunteers.
To take part, simply arrive on the day and sign in at the registration tent.
This project forms part of the broader Cleaning up the Canning initiative, funded by the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with support from the Cities of Armadale, Canning, and Gosnells, the Town of Victoria Park, South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare, Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation, Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group, Water Corporation and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
