Explore the City of Gosnells through the eyes of local artists, as part of the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards this month.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 18 May to Sunday 26 May at the Lyal Richardson Hall in Gosnells.
Deputy Mayor Adam Hort said the exhibition would showcase 132 entries this year, including more than 20 entries by young artists and 55 by local artists.
“The artworks on display in the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards are always varied and interesting, making this exhibition a highlight in the local arts scene,” he said.
“With 10 different categories and a total prize pool of $10,000, including a $5,000 Overall Acquisitive Award, the exhibition showcases the depth of artistic talent in the community.”
The 2024 City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards are sponsored by Bendigo Bank Canning Vale. Visitors to the Exhibition have until Sunday 26 May to vote for their favourite artwork – the artwork with the most votes will be awarded the Bendigo Bank Canning Vale People’s Choice Award.
This year, the City is presenting two events in the Gosnells Town Square to accompany the Community Art Exhibition and Awards.
“Community members can get hands on and help create a large ephemeral artwork from natural materials with an outdoor installation called ‘One with Nature’ from 1 to 4pm on Sunday 26 May,” Cr Hort said.
“On Sunday 19 May from 12pm to 5pm we have Pop-up Art Markets, where you can browse stalls featuring homemade items by more than 20 local artists and artisans.”
Tickets are now booked out for contemporary Ballardong artist Rohin Kickett’s artist talk at LAA on Thursday 23 May.
