City of Gosnells 2026 Neighbour of the Year winner Liz Tander is quietly transforming her street into a true community – even allowing her neighbours to make a splash.

The Maddington resident was nominated by her neighbours for going above and beyond, from caring for homes and gardens while neighbours were away to regularly checking in and offering practical support.

She has even allowed neighbours to use her swimming pool while she is at work.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said Liz was chosen as 2026 Neighbour of the Year for her efforts to make her neighbourhood a kinder and more connected place to live.

“Liz is exactly the sort of friendly, dependable neighbour we all want in our street,” Mayor Lynes said.

“Because of Liz’s thoughtful actions, her neighbours feel more connected, more supported, safer and, on a summer’s day, cooler and refreshed. Liz has built a trustworthy, reliable network of neighbours that I hope inspires others.”

Neighbour Day will be held on Sunday 29 March and City of Gosnells residents are encouraged to take part in the annual day of action by getting to know those living nearby.

One way to get to know neighbours is by hosting a Street Meet and Greet for 10 or more neighbours, with the City offering up to $200 to help cover costs of hosting the event.
