Now is the time to recognise the people or organisations that make your community great, because nominations close soon for the City of Gosnells Community Citizen of the Year.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said nominations close on Thursday 31 October and the awards will be presented on Australia Day, Sunday 26 January 2025.
“There are many people and organisations in the City of Gosnells who work tirelessly for others and make the City an even better place to live, work or visit,” she said.
“Nominating them for a Community Citizen of the Year Award is the best way to recognise their efforts and share their achievements with the whole community.”
There are four Community Citizen of the Year Award categories:
- Community Citizen of the Year – individuals over 16 years old
- Young Community Citizen of the Year – for people aged between 16 and 30-years-old
- Senior Community Citizen of the Year – for people aged over 65
- Active Citizenship Award – for a group or community event
The awards recognise people who made significant contribution to the local community, demonstrated leadership on a community issue, introduced a significant initiative that brought about positive change in the community or who were a role model for the community.
Nominees for the group/event category must have demonstrated community engagement, created initiatives for new employment or implemented a significant initiative that brought positive change in the City.
The City of Gosnells Community Citizen of the Year Awards are held in conjunction with Auspire – the Australia Day Council WA.
