The City of Gosnells Museum is heading out into the community this April and May, with a special collection of objects on display at Maddington Central shopping centre.

Part of the Australian Heritage Festival, the satellite exhibition will showcase the history and heritage of the district.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday, from Monday 20 April to Thursday 14 May, excluding the Anzac Day public holiday on Monday 27 April.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said many people were unaware of the area’s rich history.

“The collection at the City of Gosnells Museum includes items from all aspects of life in the district, from everyday objects to those reserved for special occasions, and each tells a fascinating story about the people who lived here before us,” she said.

“Bringing the Museum to Maddington Central shopping centre is a fantastic opportunity to connect with new audiences who haven’t yet explored this wonderful collection.”

From Monday 11 May to Thursday 14 May, residents can also bring photographs reflecting their life in the City of Gosnells to be scanned and donated to the Museum.

The City is particularly seeking images for exhibitions planned for 2027, including Weaving Diversity, which explores the experiences of migrants to the City, and Just Married, celebrating local weddings.

Submitted photographs will be professionally scanned and originals returned to their owners.
