Children in Southern River can enjoy a new nature playground at Aldenham Park following a major upgrade by the City of Gosnells.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the upgraded playground featured a range of tactile, nature-based elements using naturally sourced materials such as logs and limestone rocks.

“The new nature-based playground at Aldenham Park was designed to encourage children to use their imaginations, solve problems, climb and balance,” she said.

“The upgrade also included seating, new paths, a barbecue, picnic table setting and shelter, making it a fantastic place for local families to spend time together. I expect it will become a popular destination after school.”

The playground features a balance nest, abacus log, monkey bars, stump slide and carved log drum, as well as swings and plenty of rocks and logs to climb on. Additional trees were planted throughout the area, and a drinking fountain with dog water bowl was also installed.

Following community feedback, the City will also explore additional options for active recreation in the Bletchley Park estate.
