Singer-songwriter Ava Sharp has proved she has what it takes to captivate audiences with her musical talents after being named the 2024 winner of the City of Gosnells Underground Sounds competition.

Presented by the team behind Gozzy Rock, the annual youth music competition was held earlier this month at The Underground youth centre in Southern River, where 17-year-old Ava wowed the judging panel with her ethereal acoustic guitar performance.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes congratulated Ava for her outstanding performance.

“Young artists like Ava are a testament to the local talent we have here in the City of Gosnells,” Mayor Lynes said.

“Judges commended Ava for her commanding stage presence and her ability to engage with the crowd through her music.

“She took audiences on a glorious journey with each song she performed, which goes to show how talented she really is.”

As this year’s winner, Ava walks away with a $1,500 gift card.

Coming in second place was pop-punk-rock band Cities, who received a $750 gift card, with grunge rockers Cult of Humanity taking out third place and a $500 gift card.
