Wilpon Park in Beckenham has been upgraded and expanded, offering local residents a more welcoming and functional space to play, relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said Councillors visited the revitalised park yesterday.

“By strategically acquiring land to expand Wilpon Park, the City has created much-needed open space for this part of Beckenham,” Mayor Lynes said.

“With excellent access to public transport and nearby commercial areas, this neighbourhood is increasing in density – now it has a larger, improved park to make everyday life more enjoyable for local residents.”

The $437,000 upgrade included a new path linking Wilpon Street to Sevenoaks Street, along with landscaping, seating, a drinking fountain and new play equipment.

“The City has also planted 26 additional trees in Wilpon Park to help boost local tree canopy coverage – providing more shade, cooling the surrounding area and providing habitat for wildlife,” Mayor Lynes said.
