The City of Gosnells was endorsed as a Waterwise Council in 2021.

Since this endorsement, the City has worked to improve upon this achievement by continuing to introduce new waterwise policies and measures. Some of these achievements are listed below:

  • Leisure World is an endorsed Gold Waterwise aquatic facility - showcasing the City's efforts to fit waterwise equipment such as water saving plumbing fixtures
  • The City has consolidated all groundwater licenses to make management of this resource easier
  • As part of the City's Capital Works Program our groundwater bores undergo regular maintenance and are part of a replacement program
  • Water use is monitored via data loggers at two of our high use sites - Mills Park and the Civic Centre
  • Water Sensitive Design is followed at new City developments, including Robinson Park which is an award winning development for the groundwater infiltration design
  • The City promotes the planting of waterwise plants by residents through our waterwise plant directory
  • All staff that are responsible for the maintenance of our parks and gardens have obtained a qualification in irrigation management
  • The City works with our Friends of Groups to maintain our natural areas and supports their projects through our partnerships
  • Director Infrastructure Martyn Glover's leadership in the waterwise Council program was recently recognised, acknowledging having "led the City of Gosnells to achieve Waterwise Council endorsement in 2021 and Gold recognition in 2023. His work on the Robinson Park redevelopment and the Smart Drainage Program has set industry standards in stormwater management, earning national and WA awards.

The City is proud of its achievements to date, and is committed to progressing our waterwise initiatives.

Waterwise in the home

Along with the work the City completes to manage our water use, residents, visitors and business owners are encouraged to consider what they might be able to do decrease their water use.

The winter sprinkler switch-off period runs from 1 June to 31 August each year.
